In 2016, I was invited to become the first Artist in Residence for the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles (SJMQT). During my residency, I crowdsourced images through an open call requesting portraits and photography of local signage and locations. Additionally, I took photos within a three-block radius of the museum, combining selected images to design quilts. I created and exhibited the quilts at the museum. The quilt “Shine On” from this series is in the museum’s permanent collection, and was recently shown in New Directions, an exhibition celebrating SJMQT’s 45th anniversary.
